Harbaugh Family | Fall

I did this session for the Harbaugh Family back in November, but since their intentions were to use some of these for their Christmas card, I choose to wait to blog so I wouldn't give away their cards.

The boys did such a good job and I think they even got rewarded with ice cream that night! Such a great bunch... And we even got some great out takes, too.

Hands on Workshop...

Still playing catch-up... Back in September, I attended Sandy Puc's "Hands-On Photography Workshop" in Raleigh. I couldn't attend both days due to photographing a wedding, but I did attend one night of sessions. There were some really great photographers there sharing their knowledge and techniques. I found it really informative and it really made me think about my own style and technique of photography.

Specifically, I attended the workshops with Blair Phillips and Craig Stidham. Both amazing photographers and they offered a lot of invaluable information. During Blair's workshop, being hands on, we got to test out some different techniques and the following was what I got. I took a bunch of "behind the scenes" shots but I don't think anyone cares to see those. I am on the look out for other local workshops and I enjoy meeting and learning from other photographers that are willing to share their knowledge.

Overall, I walked away from this workshop really evaluating my photography and my business. I have been studying off camera flash and I hope to incorporate it more. I am still really interested in a one light strobe set up... I've been saving all my spare change and I hope to get one soon. ;) I've only got about $999 to go. In the meantime, I am making what I already have, work.

Singing in the rain...

The last two days have been cold and rainy. I already can not wait for spring to return. I don't mind the rain, I do mind the cold. I don't know why we haven't moved somewhere where it stays 60 degrees or warmer at all times. We'll make due. Luckily in North Carolina one day it may be 70 and 50 the next, so I guess it's not too bad unless you don't like surprises (in temp change). The one good thing about it getting cold is that it lowers the bug population. How's my logic for you?

Well, my assistant and I hope you have been able to stay dry and warm. She has discovered umbrellas within the last two days and want's to tote hers open around the house... Isn't it bad luck to open an umbrella indoors?

Melissa | Maternity

I am still behind on blogging my sessions. I've got a few reasons behind it - one being Flickr changed on me and well, I don't like change… Maybe Santa will gift me a new website/blog (that would remedy my problem). Hmm. Moving along...

Melissa, Sam, & I had a great session in Fuquay Varina. The weather was great, the light was great... it was just great! I actually had a hard time picking my favorites (I try to limit to 24 or less) and I've got a large album to share. If you would like a maternity session of your own, please send me an email. Gift certificates are available!
